Medieval Times and others

A 5x7 PA sketch.

A 5x7 PA sketch.

A 12x6 PA of the "Medieval Times" building at the C.N.E.

An 8x10 copy experiment of a Richard Scmid PA. Trying to get that overcast light feeling.

A 6x8 from around the corner. Tree = OK, mailbox = not so OK.

A 1hr 6x8 PA of some corner store. Had some interesting light effects that day. I think the light side of the building is ok, but the side in shadow is a little bit soft (oh well...can only get so much done in 1hr :D ) I'll prob rework this at home.

Amazing that these are so small. I like every one of them very much. I think the mail box is also okay. The variety of colors you achieve is great. Do you still work with the limited palette?
I see that you are very much aware of the point you want to make and establish a strong focal point.

Rob, I hope there's no stopping me :D . If I make enough paintings, a style has to emerge.... right?!

Thanks Stefan. The one with the mailbox caused a bit of grief, just because I did't think I had nailed it. Lately, I've abandoned my limited colour approach and just gone back to a fuller palette (i.e. two yellows, reds, ultra blue, virid, and transp oxide).

Great work. I really like the corner one with the brick building. Your Schmid lesson looks nice and overcast.

Thanks Stranded!

Thanks Chris.. I'd be lying if I said I don't have a bit of a formula for those reddish type brick buildings in sunlight! The Schmid one was fun too.
