convocation hall

I went out Sunday and pulled off this quick sketch of the convocation hall at UofT.

A street scene sketch from before the holidays.. testing out a 3 colour palette.

I like your work. It has a good feeling. I especially like the red house down the page with the fence in front. The rainy one as well.

I like your work a lot. The red house with the fence, rainy scene... I like them all. Good brush work.

Hi Mike,
Laura and I just checked out your web site and are so impressed by your new paintings. I especially liked the cottage pics. What size are they?? You seem to be in a very productive period!

I like these two. How big ( or small) are they and which three colors do you use.
Like you said the grays are the keys to good color.
Cheers..Nue!

Hi Chris, Thanks for the kudos! The one with the red house was probably the hardest one out of that bunch.. I tried to be a little more accurate with drawing etc...

Ade.. Thanks! (Do you have a blog too?) I'm sure I'll do a pile more of the cottage in the summer.. if ya wants one... just say!

Stefan, lately I've been working just with 6x8s.. and am finding it very helpful for getting stuff down quick. I'd like to do some larger ones though in the field.. like maybe up to 12x16 or even a tad larger??! As far as colours.. I think with the tri-coloured ones it was Terra Rosa, Lemon Yel, and Ultra Blue. You're so right about the gray thing too. (easy to find with 3 colours as well)
cheers! Mike
